Pete King to Newsmax: Megabill Not Easy but Will Pass

The tax-and-spending megabill, with an expected vote in the Senate on Monday, is “essential for the growth of the country” and most likely will make it to President Donald Trump’s desk for his signature, but “it’s not going to be easy,” former Rep. Pete King said on Newsmax, Sunday.

“The bill is still alive, but I can’t tell you exactly how it’s going to be done,” the New York Republican told Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend.” “Once they get this close and the president is strongly committed to getting it through one way or the other, I think it’s going to make it through the Senate [and] ultimately it will make it through the House.”

And even though the fight over some of the bill’s provisions continues, “when you get down to the two-yard line, the one-yard line, one way or the other they will get it across,” King said. “It’s not pretty, and it’s not the type of thing that maybe you learned in high school civics class, but it’s the way government works and Congress works when it’s at its best. I mean, this is what democracy is about.”
