Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, told Newsmax on Monday that the anti-Israel protesters that have been creating chaos at universities across the country in recent weeks are “Marxists” and the United States is “truly under attack.”
During an appearance on “Wake Up America,” the Utah Republican said the pro-Palestinian demonstrations on college campuses are reminiscent of the Black Lives Matter protests that caused millions of dollars in property damage in 2020.
“These folks are coming in, and they’re organized,” Owens said. “There’s millions and millions of dollars being pushed into this. … In those days, it was supposed to be the Blacks that were being the oppressed. Now, it’s the Israel, it’s the American, it’s the capitalism that are the oppressors. So, it’s the same message because it’s the same people. These are Marxists. They’re the slow march of Marxism through our institutions that’s been going on for 40 to 50 years. We’ve seen the results of it, and we’re at a point, thank goodness, we’re tired of it.”
